FARMER & the Dail

In 2015, Zac and Stacy found themselves back in Stacy’s hometown of Snow Hill.  There wasn’t too much to do around town at the time, so Stacy learned how to make decorated sugar cookies and after posting pictures on social media, found herself booking dozens of decorating classes with folks that also wanted to learn.  Zac stepped in as her trusty β€œicing specialist” stirring so many bowls of royal icing (by hand!), and that soon evolved into pop up shops where Zac utilized his Kentucky roots to create our now famous recipe for apple jacks and biscuit bombs.

We would open a couple Saturday’s a month, staying up all night to make as many jacks and biscuits as we could, and then sell out in a couple hours.  It was exhausting, exhilarating, and opened our eyes to all the possibilities of what Farmer and the Dail could be.  After being open for only breakfast for six years, in 2021 we moved into our brand new bakery/restaurant that we built from the ground up - triple the size of our original location - staffed it with over 40 passionate employees, and welcomed thousands of people to our little slice of grandma-approved southern food heaven!

THE FARMER

Stacy was born and raised in Greene County where farming is a way of life. When she wasn’t spending her days working at her mom’s restaurant, Strickland Dail Dining, she could be found riding the tractor with her Dad or going with him to check the (smelly!) pigs.

Farmer and the Dail gives new meaning to β€œfarm to table” because our roots are here. The bakery is built on family land and many of the customers that we see daily are the same ones that Stacy was pouring tea for when she was 10 years old. Sharing that country life and appreciation for slowing things down and enjoying the moment while rocking on our front porch looking out at farmland is part of the charm of FATD!

the β€œDail”

In her mom’s restaurant, Stacy (maiden name Dail!) always loved helping to make cakes, getting to know customers, and appreciating the love that they had for the food she helped her mom make.  She could see from a young age the joy people have when you give them something special that you’ve made - whether it fried chicken or collards, cookies or cupcakes - and how that joy bounces right back to the person who made it.

When Zac and Stacy started dating, it very quickly became their Sunday morning ritual to make homemade biscuits as a way to spend time together but also as a way to gather with friends and family over good food. At FATD, food is love - and we want to share it with all of you!
